I think all these names need to be displayed on billboards in the districts of these traitors. After all we are paying their salaries, not the illegals.

If Americans in each state contributed one dollar to a billboard, we could shame these traitors into submission.
Place the billboard in their districts, with their phone numbers on so people who are hard working Americans can let them know how they feel.

We have got to start voting these people out of office, otherwise America as we know it will be lost forever. We will become a third world country very quickly.
It has already taken its toll in California and Florida.

Fortunately this list does not include anyone I voted for as my representative. If it did, I would certainly contact that person and advise him or her that this vote did not represent me well. And it certainly did not represent the multitude of unemployed Americans well either. I have forwarded the list to friends and relatives as well so they can see the people who voted for Americans last and put illegal aliens first.

I can agree with Helen in part. We are sadly in need of term limits but I cannot see sending a good man of woman if they have been voting consistantly the right way. We probably are not going to see the people up on Capitol Hill vote term limits on themselves so I recommend that everyone keep a close eye on everything your elected official does, no matter how big or small the issue. Keep their phone ringing in all their offices to let them know you are watching their actions. Power corrupts everyone unless they are controlled by the people who put them there. Let your voice be heard and don't let the nation be controlled by 545 people that won't listen to you.

Did you notice that nine of the votes are from New York and California? Is it any wonder that California is bankrupt and New York is raising taxes left and right to try and close huge budget gaps too.

Until every incumbent is voted out of office we are going to continue to have this problem. When you go to the polls next time to vote , vote for the opposite party that is running against the incumbent eventually we will get rid of these people. Political office was never meant to be a career job. There are people in office who have to get around in wheel chairs and are not able to get to their office without help, not that I am against anyone handicapped but these people have been in office for 30 and 40 years. We need term limits but until we get them which is highly unlikely (another story) we need to vote out every incumbent. Try it I think it might work.

I'm pleased to see that our two "Maine-iac" Democrat Congress "people", Mike Michaud (2nd. District) and Chellie Pingree (1st. District) apparently voted correctly on the amendment. I hope this means that they won't be an automatic vote for CIR when the votes start coming.

Please add the politcal party designation (D) or (R) for the Representatives. I think it would be instructive to be able to tell at a glance which party is caring more about American workers.

It is up to each and every one of us to vote these party loyalists out of office. You people from PA. Please do something for your state and country and vote John Murtha out of office.

I was trying to provoke a good discussion which I succeeded by getting your excellent response. I agree that the collapsed economy and the bankrupting of CA (coming for the US as a whole) have shifted the mood as you say. There is genuine anger but most people have not discovered the real cause - uncontrolled immigration - and genuine outlets for real action like Numbersusa.

My suggestion is to change from simply fighting the CIR to changing its terms. The opposite side uses CIR as a code word for amnesty and large increases in greencards since they cannot call it by its real name. Let's change its popular definition to mean the opposite, maybe called RIR or Real IR. Maybe something will emerge that will be a bit of both.

I understand what you are saying in your compromise strategy - that getting something is better than getting nothing.

However, comprehensive immigration reform was defeated before and we will work to have it defeated again. The longer we can fend off amnesty and work for E-Verify, the more Americans will realize that comprehensive immigration reform is not in the best interest of the country and put pressure on their representatives.

When I joined NumbersUSA, its membership was under 200,000. (It's now more than 900,000.) Since then I have been amazed at the progress we've made. Back then, congressmen supporting bills against anchor babies was unthinkable. That and more are happening now as jobs are being lost to illegals, jobs require Spanish, Americans are being affected by crimes by those who should not even be in our country, we have to "Press 1 for English," etc.

I am not suggesting give up now. Just that backroom negotiations are happening and to work for a bill that is as good as can be - reduce green cards drastically, drop H1B, build the wall. The following facts are a reality-
a) The current illegal population is not going back. If there is not a will to even do token raids on a hundred people, how will an entire population of 30m be deported? At best, the e-verify will make it difficult to find good work and attrition will occur.
b) Politicians fully know our feelings since 2007, they are intentionally choosing to override them. Their shrewd calculation is that there is net electoral and financial benefit in listening to the high immigration lobbies. Other issues will cause them to be re-elected even if majority of voters disagree on this one.

I am anti-illegal immigration, and against having 30 million illegals living in our country, at this time, is very unhealthy, both, for us, as a country, as well as for them, a people, and it would be better for everyone, including them, if they returned to their home countries, to help us help them to make their country everything it could be, but first we need to help ourselves, and starighten out our own country. It's a big job, but Americans are no strangers to big jobs; the bigger the job, the more patriots who will step forward. We can do it! Yes, we can! One step at a time!

MD2510 of MA, I think giving in would be ridiculous. There's nothing inevitable about amnesty, especially in this economic environment, every week that passes screws more pressure on this admin to enforce our laws.

These folks will most certainly be going home, and it's important to note that they all have homes to go back to.

None of them sprang up from the soil one day. In this day and age, many of us have spent lots of time in foreign countries. No other country I've been to would think of themselves as a door mat for outsiders to come in and take whatever they want.

Our political class is still living under a now dead paradigm. Without doubt the next elections will put into office politicians who will put Americans first and enforce our laws, politicians who don't suffer from delusions of a failed Globalization, and a foolish dream that any one from any where will have our people's good interests at heart.

The world doesn't work that way. And the spin on the recent unemployment reports can't hide the fact that 14.5 million Americans are destitute.

These illegal people cannot just eat dirt, nor can they just dump Americans down the toilet and take our lives away from us inside our own country.

There will be no amnesty

Strategy idea for Numbersusa-

Given the inevitability of a CIR, it may be better to work on a strict 'Minimize net new number' policy. I have come to accept that the illegals here are not going back unless they choose on their own. So they have a virtual amnesty now.

In exchange for the full amnesty which would add no new net admissions, if we can get a substantial reduction of total green cards per year (under 500,000 including chain migration), reduce H1B and build the wall, then the overall future numbers improve compared to the no CIR status quo. The strict limits would, of course, have to be without loopholes and enforced. This part would have be carefully written in CIR.

Sometimes you have to give up a lot to gain a lot. What do people think?

Some proponants of immigration amnesty as a policy have actually praised illegal hiring practices as a necessary means of promoting "flexibility" in our national labor market. It is profoundly distressing that anyone associated with government-- the institution charged with protecting the public trust-- would excuse or condone exploitative labor practices in this way.

Employers who hire people who are not legally authorized to work in the United States are breaking the law. Potentially, they are also denying opportunities both to obtain employment and to support federal, state and local tax bases to many citizens and permanent legal residents; they are in this respect damaging our national interests.

It is very difficult for me to understand why Congress would not implement e-Verify on a nationwide basis as a matter of promoting the public interest in enforcing federal hiring and minimum wage laws, and reducing identity theft crimes.

I assume that all or almost all of those who took this unconscionable action are Democrats. I would suggest giving party affiliations in lists like this one. As a Democrat I would appreciate it. We desperately need to reform Democratic immigration policies to make them consistent with our party's noblest traditions, not its most vile. Laying each crime at the feet of the party that commits it is important to forcing change. I'm not a flag waving super patriot and I can support many things that conservatives find unacceptable, but I am offended by Americans who are not loyal to the American people. Those members of Congress deeply offend me. And, some of them represent poor districts where American kids go to bed hungry because their parents can't find work. There is no excuse.

How ironic that Jesse Jackson, representing the south side of Chicago with a heavily African-American constituency, voted NO. I guess he doesn't care if his constituents get jobs!
Folks, you simply MUST attend those town meetings. I just returned from Kirk's Wilmette meeting (room filled to overflowing). Although the topic was health care, one gentlemen asked whether the 40 million uninsured included illegals (they do), then he ventured his opinion that they should NOT be included in universal coverage. Loud applause from those present! It is so much better to actually hear your representative speak than just read comments.
