The powerful "elevator ad" is back up on CNN, reminding news watchers that Washington's politicians have only minimal concern for jobless Americans. With 15 million unemployed, the ad notes that our immigration system is still bringing in 1.5 million foreign workers each year. Not one Member of Congress has proposed suspending this insane federal attack on the working families of this country.

These incredible facts should be the No. 1 topic at Town Hall meetings this month.

TALK ABOUT THE ELEVATOR AD AT TOWN HALL MEETINGS

Before you go to a meeting, look up your Congressman to look at his/her immigration grade.

If the grade is bad, demand that your Representative or Senator explain why he/she has continually insisted on more foreign workers instead of preserving dwindling U.S. jobs for citizens of this country (and permanent legal immigrants who already are here).
If the grade is good, demand to know why your Senator or Representative has not introduced legislation to suspend most immigration until the Jobs Depression is over.

Not even our best ally in Congress has introduced an Immigration Suspension Bill.

And even though most Republican Members of Congress have stood up against any increase in foreign workers, the Republican congressional leadership has done nothing to champion the cause of unemployed Americans by highlighting the insanity of our continuing program of astronomical immigration numbers.

The Democratic leadership is even worse -- working daily to INCREASE the number of foreign workers.

THE INMATES INDEED ARE RUNNING THE INSANE ASYLUM

Wouldn't you think that in a democratic republic the elected representatives in a time of horrible unemployment would stop importing foreign workers?

But an Immigration Suspension is not even whispered in the halls of Congress.

This Jobs Depression is in its second year and the beleaguered U.S. worker still doesn't have a full champion in Congress.

Along with other immigration-reduction groups in the Coalition for the Future American Worker, NumbersUSA is using the Elevator Ad to draw attention to the U.S. Congress's continuing hostility to American workers. For the majority in Congress -- no matter what the issue -- immigration and corporations that demand foreign workers are always the top priority.

I agree we need to stop

I agree we need to stop illegal immigration and deport those whom we find. But I have mixed feelings about a total suspension of legal immigration. I think this is too broad-brush. It is a fact that we are graduating fewer American-born engineers and scientists than we need, particularly those with advanced degrees. Most of those who come here become citizens, and do not leach money from taxpayers by becoming welfare recipients. Further, engineers and scientists do not just take a job for themselves; they create jobs for others. My estimate is at least a 20:1 ratio of new jobs created for each engineer or scientist hired. I don't know if anyone has actually studied this. PS: I am a engineer myself, American-born, and I have had the pleasure to work with many foreign-born engineers and scientists.

We don't advocate stopping immigration for spouses and minor children, or for true geniuses. As for other scientists and engineers: 20 percent of high-skilled immigrants in the U.S. Labor force is unemployed or working in an unskilled job; studies (here here) finding no shortage of engineers in the U.S. and; found that the often-cited (by Sen. Kennedy, Newt
Gingrich and others) statistics that the U.S. produces 70,000 engineers
annually versus 350,000 from India and 600,000 from China are not valid.

Dear Mr Beck,
I am with you on this illegal migration(not immigration because immigration is getting proper authorization through proper channels to enter the country legally). The reason
the Democrats are for it is to get ready made voters on
their side by giving them all the bebefits. These people
are paid more for doing nothing at a rate much higher than
they could ever get working in Mexico or any other country.

I would like to get some data behind the 1.5 Million Foreign Workers A Year number. Would like to use any supporting facts (aka House Bill numbers etc) that makes up the 1.5 million per year.

This would be a good letter to the editor topic. New Hampshire Shea Porter and Hodes has been insourcing American Jobs for the past two plus years.

Obama promised change; but he's Bush II. Pushing 10,000 page Patriot Act type Bills through without reading them. Everything is imminent with Bush type politicians; get it signed before We the People and the legislatators know what it says.

There's a silver lining to the Obama rush tactic though, it shows he knows the phony economic recovery MSM reports with depression level unemployment [calculated honestly] make his Immigration Deform Bill a complete joke.

Thank God for Numbersusa, currently faxing out a petition to stop all immigration in America ASAP until depresssion level unemployment goes away [this will never occur again IMO, until America severely depopulates the unskilled/professional job search market ASAP].

The elevator ad is indeed "powerful", as you say Roy. But running on CNN? CNN is a shadow of its former self.

The other day Rush Limbaugh was mocking CNN when he reported on a story from their network saying "Now if I don't tell anyone about this then no one will hear about it, because it was on CNN, with only 300k audience, CNN today is tiny."

Maybe some more widely-viewed venues would spread the word better.

I think a big link on Drudge would allow a far greater audience to get the message at probably a lower cost. Links on Washington Times and Michael Savage's site (firebrand that he is), could probably all be had cheaper, and be more effective, than a small time cable operator who has seen its better days.

Just a suggestion! Keep up the great work.

Our Congressmen are beholding to ''votes'', not constituents and certainly not to quality of life issues.

Congress has guaranteed quality healthcare benefits, excellent pension plans, and all the wonderful lobbyists who wine and dine them in DC. In fact the majority of our Congressmen are MILLIONAIRES.

Congress's first action this year was to vote themselves a pay raise, while the rest of us were unemployed or had work hours cut.

Day to day we see the coverage on MSM showing our Congress in action - like ordering $550 MILLLION in new jets so they can travel the world in comfort with their spouses for free.

I'm not seeing any benefit from all the millions Congress spends going to China, France, Italy, New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland, Germany, Britain, Russia, etc. Sounds more like they are vacationing on the taxpayers dime.

I do know we need campaign finance reform, and term limits in addition to legal and illegal immigration reform.

I just don't think that Congress feels these things are in their best interest.

I absolutely agree, I have been out of work since February, and no relief in sight. The one job I was a perfect fit for (I am a Project Manager with a graduate degree, and many years of experience) I learned from the employment counselor had a code on it that told him it was going to be filled by a foreign worker, and he told me it was advertised only to meet the law. THIS WAS A NC ESC VETERANS COUNSELOR.

I am getting angerier all the time. My home is in jeapordy, my family is suffering, and I am getting nowhere very fast. Review my Linked In profile to see just who they are passing up to hire cheaper foreign labor.

I'm glad to see this is the topic of conversation today. Yesterday I wrote my Representative Melissa Bean of the 8th District and asked her to do what she could to stop all immigration into this country for up to five years so as the federal government could find out just who is in this country. Now I suggested we find out who was her legally on visa's and then find out who was here illegally. With this knowledge the government could use the laws already on the books to remove the people that have over stayed their visa's and deport the people that are in this country illegally. What a concept, to take back what belongs to the citizens of this country and get rid of those that have presently no fear what so ever of being in this country illegally.

President Eisenhower wanted the illegals gone in 1954. Some were deported and the rest self-deported. We need a president with that common sense policy right now. Unfortunately that is not Obama's policy and never will be.

However, Obama just announced discussions on comprehensive immigration reform after the first of the year. Regardless of whether or not health care reform passes, voters are becoming aware and are angry. And ALL representatives will be coming up for election next fall.

Whether you like the strategy or not, the voters shouting down their reps at town hall meetings have gotten the attention and COVERAGE of the MSM. Hopefully, the same will happen with comprehensive immigration reform. Voters will become aware, angry, and let their reps know that they won't be reelected if they don't come over to the side of common sense.

Big business, the multi-nationals, and far too many other special rights movements. They represent a very small fraction of our population. Even with the illegals, that they must not be given priority over the majority.

People of this country are so naive. Don't think for one minute that your rep. or Sen. really cares about you or what you think. They do what ever it takes for the vote. That's it in a nutshell. I'll bet that over half of these jerks never read a full bill before they vote on it. They v ote the way the majority does. If they did read it they probably wouldn'y know what they're reading DA!!!!!!!11 The only way to shake things up is not vote for any demacrat inbcumbents next year.Let them feel what unemployment is like.

I have a question. If we could send millions of troops to Europe during WWII and millions of troops to Vietnam in the 60's, why can't we send millions of illegal aliens (aka leeches) to the Mexican border? I am sick and tired of paying taxes so that the illegal leeches can get free health care, free educations, free foods stamps, housing assistance, etc.

Anyone know if Pelosi and Reid is having or had a town hall meetings? So true, Helen4859. I along with millions of Americans are no doubt fed. And if these two or one of them having a town hall meeting, I sure like to be in that meeting and EXPRESS what I have to say about the immigration crisis. I along with everyone in that room will have OUR voices heard right in their faces about opposing all amnesty, giving ANY medical and health care to illegals. I will personally tell Pelosi or Reid this; "I and everyone in this room will say this. You and all those in Washington need to STOP giving illegal any form of amnesty. Saw on CSPAN of the Health Care Town Hall Meeting in Lebanon, Penn with Senator Specter. Several people come right up and spoke CLEARLY to him no health coverage for illegals at all and that they should not be here at all. The citizens at these Town Hall Meetings are speaking out on this outrage, letting their voices be HEARD right in front of their faces about illegals.

"I will not support a bill that gives illegals any health and medical coverage."

Quote of Senator Specter. Is he telling the truth? Or fooling the people who showed up that town hall meeting today by lying and/or betraying to them? Two people we are all too familar with into pushing amnesty is Pelosi and Reid. I would like to see those town hall meetings and the very citizens get into the faces of Pelosi and Reid about illegals getting health coverage from the bill. Now these are the two most crooked politics that citizens NEED to get right in their faces about! If I were in that town hall meeting I would say and say it clearly to Pelosi;

'Take out all health and medical coverage for illegal immigrants, or be VOTED out next November. I along with millions are outraged that you continue to push amnesty for illegals knowing very well that most of us OPPOSE all amnesty. Stop this now or get voted out! Specter was telling a very popular half truth. There are two mentions relating to the illegal problem in H.R.
It does say open to US Citizens and Legal Residents*
Also says no federal funds will be spent to cover illegals.
Specter and others repeat this refrain.

The other half of the equation is that they did kill the amendment to permit or insist on verification of citizenship.This is the planned back door.

The front door remains AMNESTY. Which is what we have to start fighting now, even though the president promised the president of Mexico that the Amnesty bill would happen in 2010, just in time to tie into free health care.

What we don't yet know is if Specter and the others really believe there is no problem, or are afraid to discuss the other means of entry into free illegal alien health care .
