I am a member of the notorious SEIU union, which consists of tens of thousands of non-citizen employee's. This union gives free legal aide to those whose visa's have expired etc. When I originally applied, five dollars was taken from my check without authorization, as a campaign donation to the party who will champion for union members. I am not a democrat, changed parties many years ago after witnessing the atrocities dems committed in my state.

When I asked that the five dollar campaign donation be stopped, job's dried up or I was given a few clients who were next to impossible, eventually winning them over. After returning from taking time off, I was required to take a class in home health aide services and that someone would call me back to let me know when the class would begin. The call never came. I called back and asked to speak to the head supervisor who appeared to be surprised.

Finally when I did get to the class, it was bi-lingual with other goodies attached, food & education among them, resources which I was not " entitled " to because my income exceded the amount allowed. The FREE education given to what is a large majority non citizn's.

In L.A. they are given FREE LVN training, convienient if you live in L.A. the only other area in Southern California and too far for me to travel is also heavily populated by non citizen's. Tell me there is not a blantant agenda to replace he American worker. Today I will attend the meeting with Hilda Solis at L.A. union station. Thank you for this comments section, hope you will not mind me using some of what you fine member's have written during the question and comment's section of the Solis meeting.

This is a disgrace.having been a union member since 1962 I really feel that we are being sold down the river. Like some of the other comments the only thing that they are interested is more dues if they get the illegals into the union.

They are already getting our dues so they don't give a crap about us.Its all about money. we need to go to the AFL-CIO website and voice our opinions.Maybe its time to get rid of some of those leaders.

The American Union workers must stop paying dues to the Unions and form their own Pro-American worker Union(s).

Unions supporting illegals and Amnesty trash legislation is equivelent to spitting on the American flag!

The union wants amnesty? Lets look at California. California has a 11.2% unemployment rate and is overrun with illegal aliens. The state spends $7 billion a year providing benefits for the illegal invaders. How can any rational union leader call amnesty when so many American citizens are out of work? Why would any union leader want to burden his members with high taxes to support the invaders? The madness never ends!

I'll bet a shiny dime that we'll find out eventually that the administration had guaranteed union member vested benefits in return for their support of amnesty. Later, after the bankruptcy dust settles, and GM et al are making government perscribed "clean cars", we'll get the bill under TARP, or whatever the next multi billion dollar bailout is called.

I am so happy to be retired now! But fear for my kids who have to compete with foreign labor. Cheap foreign labor at that! Looks like our country will be like Britian and the rest of Europe! Where they don't want to work anymore and just want to live off the government. Obama is in Mexico now selling the rest of our counrry out to the Mexican labor market! We will see a mass influx of Mexicans and others once AMNESTY happens. So way to go AFL-CIO you and the ACLU and Chamber of Commerce have won! The American worker has lost! I contacted the AFL-CIO website yesterday to request information as to why that union's policymakers reportedly may support an immigration amnesty? So far I have not received an email in response to my inquiry (I am not a union member). I am interested in ascertaining the basis for the AFL-CIO's position on this important immigration issue. While there certainly may be a benefit for illegally hired workers themselves in obtaining a legal immigration status, and the inclusion of additional workers nationwide as legal workers might expand potential union workplaces in the future, I don't understand how an immigration amnesty would actually benefit union members who are currently legally entitled to work in our country?

The AFL/CIO has sold out its Membership by its decision to support amnesty for illegial immigrants.

In reality, illegal immigrants are criminals and we now have 20 million illegal immigrant criminals running loose in our streets while honest applicants for immigration wait in line for visas. We must stop the big business driving force behind the amnesty drive. We must stop big business from undermining the American worker by allowing access an indentured criminal labor force that, being fearful of reprisals and repercussions of their illegal status, can not and will not speak out or stand up for themselves. Allowing illegal immigration through any form of amnesty program will turn the clock back 50 years on our society.

Until law and order are returned to our once great nation, we, the American workers, are simply treading water in a criminal sea of governmental program abuse, and unless we get a solid foothold soon, the American worker who fought and died for the country will drown from its own bureaucracy.

Illegal aliens have been used for years to replace union workers in the building trades, meat packing, farm labor, and the service industries. And for years the national union leaders have either looked the other way or actively supported it. The union leaders essentially helped the bosses get rid of American workers and replace them with a cheaper illegal workforce. Now they plan to get their piece of the action by legalizing the new workers to make them easier to organize. The unions will be as happy to milk the new workers for dues as they were to cheat the ones they betrayed.

I think what these union leaders have gotten away with says a lot about how fundamentally undemocratic American unions have become at their highest levels. And, we probably shouldn't be too disheartened by an AFL-CIO enforcement of amnesty. Politically, rank and file workers haven't listened to the clowns at the top for decades.

Yes, that short appearance on Glenn Beck show was very revealing of the problem the immigration-reduction movement faces. Roy presents his positions in the most factual and decent manner - and he is treated like a zealot???? Read what happened to Tom Tancredo at his UNC appearance. Or the latest DHS report on the rising 'immigration extremists'.

Many people get all riled up about illegal aliens and amnesty but then agree without any reservation to *unlimited* legal immigrants and guest workers. As Glenn did. When as NumberUSA shows, the impact of jobs, environment, quality of life is the same with illegals or legals. It is the total numbers that matter, this is the key point missing today.

The AFL-CIO just sent me an email regarding the Employee Free Choice Act. Lots of flowery language, here are some examples:

1) With Pennsylvania's unemployment rate hitting 7.5 percent, we
must level the playing field for working families. We need to
fix our broken system and give workers a free choice to bargain
with their employers in order to restore our middle class and
build an economy that works for everyone.

2)- There must be real penalties for violating the
law--companies must be held accountable.

3) P.S. In this economy, we can't afford to let corporations
dictate our economic and workplace policies. Corporate front
groups are spending millions of dollars lobbying Congress
against the Employee Free Choice Act

So it's ok to lobby for amnesty, against the interests of American workers.

This is typical of the "forked tongue" language of big business. And, in recent years, unions have behaved in this shortsighted manner with ever increasing regularity.

Say they get their way and amnesty is passed, allowing millions of new workers to swell union ranks. After all, that is the motivation. The word is, illegal alien workers in many regions, are already making demands of their unsrupulous employers for better pay and more desirable job duties. So basically, the scheme to hire illegals for the purpose of getting cheap labor from non-rabble rousing workers, is already backfiring.

Do the unions honestly believe they will be left with a compliant, grateful membership when they get their way? No, I believe the unions know that their gains, if any, will be shortlived. They just don't care. They'll get all they can until the well runs dry, and then scramble to come up with more shortsighted solutions.

Ironically, this behavior closely parallels the transient work ethic philosophy embaced by many illegal immigrant workers. They come here to make a fast buck, then take it back home to spend it, where it's worth more. I speak from personal experience in the residential construction field.

The philosophy displays a decided emphasis on quantity (earnings now), over quality (a lasting impression that builds a good reputation). This attitude is not only echoed, but encouraged. for many of the same reasons, by dishonest contractors who hire illegal aliens. It is this greedy attitude, as much as any other factor, which has infected big business and unions. Its effect has been one of a systemic nature, because everything is connected.

It is complicated, but if immigration (and all its associated issues), is viewed in a holistic context, then the pieces - and the improprieties - start to come together.

The sad thing is, our children are not so clueless as you would think. Irresponsible behavior by our elected officials, like the public is currently witnessing, only teaches the next generation that honesty is just a temporary commodity to be exploited for short term gain. Now there's a role model for you.

I'm sure that these union leaders do not speak for a vast majority of their members. The tax burden to provide services (food stamps, educations, health care, etc) will certainly cause union members to oppose their leadership.

I was an SEIU member for 14 years and even served as an officer of my local. I used to be proud of my role in helping my fellow workers achieve a fair share of what they produced. It is with great sadness that I watch the organization that I once served turn into just another self-interested bureaucracy, one that is apparently willing to sell out the people of this great nation for a handful of foreign (and illegally earned) dues receipts.

I am a retired Oklahoma Professional Firefighter. I WAS a key member bringing the IAFF/AFL-CIO-CLC into our Department. I was either the Parliamentarian, Secretary, VP or Local President for a number of years.

After reading that they support amnesty for Illegal immigrants that are taking LEGAL American jobs, I will NEVER support them or anyone else that does, in ANY way again. EVER! They will never get a cent from me again!

I hope that every union member will contact the AFL-CIO and express to them, in no uncertain terms, our total distain of their recent slap in the face of every LEGAL American Union Member.

As for the United States Chamber of Commerce, all they want are millions of $2.00/Hr foreign guest-worker slaves with no benefits, to build their junky little Wal-Mart widgets.
