Today, House Committee Showed Why You Can Never Believe A Congressman Without Verification

By Roy Beck, Friday, July 31, 2009, 11:07 PM EST

Congressmen lie. Congressmen deceive. Congressmen think the voters in their District are either idiots or too apathetic to notice. Today's vote on health care for illegal aliens is such a perfect example. The vote was a farce that will be used by many Congressmen to defend themselves against charges that they promote illegal immigration, when in fact their action today just encouraged more of it.

Momentum Good to Block Illegal Aliens from Federal Health Plan (but House Leaders battling us ferociously)

By Roy Beck, Friday, July 31, 2009, 10:52 AM EST

Even as U.S. House Leaders indicate that illegal aliens are their No. 1 priority, I'm feeling moderately optimistic after our loss in a key House committee Thursday. Here's the good news: Republicans (who until recently were somewhat evenly divided on immigration issues) are voting nearly unanimously with us over this summer. And more and more Democrats are splitting from their Party Leaders as constituents back home make it clear where they stand.

Examining Federal Commissions for Population Stabilization

By Jenny Lin And Britney Peguese, Thursday, July 30, 2009, 1:01 PM EST

As summer interns from Duke University, we have spent most of our summer working on NumbersUSA’s new “Quality of Life” maps indicating where in the country the effects of high immigration and population growth are most acutely felt.

Schumer Announces Move Regarding Foreign Workers

By Norm Matloff, Wednesday, July 29, 2009, 1:45 PM EST

Senate Immigration Subcommittee Chair Senator Chuck Schumer has not said anything about increasing the H-1B cap, so far as I can tell. There have been news articles on this in the last few weeks, and to my knowledge Schumer has made no public statements in this regard. The quote included in the Computerworld article is: We must encourage the world's best and brightest individuals to come to the United States and create new technologies and business that will

Another Whopper From the New York Times

By Charles Breiterman, Updated Monday, July 27, 2009, 12:00 PM EST

Another biased and factually incorrect article from the New York Times leads me to vent my frustrations by writing.

Hispanic Caucus Tells Pelosi That Health Bill Just Right To Give Full Coverage To Illegal Aliens

By Roy Beck, Sunday, July 26, 2009, 10:28 PM EST

You know we are in trouble when the supporters of a massive taxpayer health benefit giveaway to illegal aliens say the current House plan is just right. The authoritative ROLL CALL publication says Hispanic Caucus Members told it confidentially that the Caucus told Speaker Pelosi not to change a thing because as written illegal aliens will get the benefits.

(MY BUSINESS WEEK ARTICLE) Nearly All Wealthy & Emerging Nations Have Eliminated Birthright Citizenship -- We Should, Too

By Roy Beck, Friday, July 24, 2009, 3:22 PM EST

Business Week is running a debate on-line today about giving U.S. citizenship to every person born within our borders -- including babies of tourists, illegal aliens, foreign students. I was given 200 words to make the case against it. Read them here . . .

So Far, Top Leaders Intend New Health Plan to Cover Illegal Aliens

By Roy Beck, Updated Thursday, July 23, 2009, 12:36 AM EST

Oh, sure, they say it isn't true. But every indication says it is. Consider: Asked by Katie Couric if "illegal immigrants" should be covered under the emerging national health plan, Pres. Obama said "NO." But then he started giving exceptions that would cover about 98% of current illegal aliens. House leaders are playing the same game. Take a look . . .

Endorsement of Shuler/Pryor SAVE Act (mandates E-Verify to keep illegal aliens out of U.S. jobs)

By Roy Beck, Wednesday, July 22, 2009, 8:21 AM EST

Democrats Rep. Shuler and Sen. Pryor this week are re-introducing the SAVE Act which would put more unemployed Americans and legal immigrants back to work than any other action of the federal government this year or next. Here is my official endorsement . . .

Moon Landing, Milton Berle, Soup Kitchens and Lost Dreams

By Roy Beck, Monday, July 20, 2009, 2:49 PM EST

Forty years ago this morning, I was visiting with Milton Berle in his hotel room near Grand Rapids, Michigan, sharing our reactions to watching the moon landing in the middle of the night. That evening, we met again over a giant bowl of potato salad at a backyard picnic as Congressman Gerald Ford dipped and recounted his call from Pres. Nixon soon after the moon walk.
